Nursery and Pre-Prep Department

The Nursery offers a gentle beginning to education through play and discovery, this is reinforced by continual development throughout the school. Lessons are lively and purposeful. The Pre-Prep Department's "hands-on" nature provides a stimulating and highly motivating environment where talent is recognised and encouraged.

Nursery Department

Starting school is an important step in a child's life. We believe that the happy and settled environment of the Nursery at Cransley provides a gentle introduction to school, smoothing the transition from the home to the classroom. The nursery classes offer the opportunity to learn in a structured play environment, whilst still following the routine of the Junior Department.

We adopt a multi-sensory approach to teaching at this stage. Children learn pre-reading and pre-number skills appropriate to their individual stage of development.

Entry to Nursery is at 3 years old. Children are admitted for up to nine sessions per week on individual assessment.

The Pre-Prep Department

This department offers boys and girls an introduction to formal education. Particular emphasis is placed on literary skills and children are encourages to develop their own thoughts and imaginations in their work. The school's reading scheme is followed and numerical skills form an important part of the curriculum, involving an introduction to both practical and formal mathematics. Keyboard experience on computers takes place within each classroom.
